On the Road by Russ Fega

stopping whenever you want?! No schedule, no passengers, no agenda. That is just what Location Manager Russ Fega did when he took a road trip up the Oregon coast. |

On the Road by Russ Fega I’d never driven up the coast of Oregon and it’s something I’d always wanted to do. Some days I traveled long distances and some days I was satisfied just moving a few miles up the coast. I wanted to be true to whatever impulses I encountered and to be free to let the pace of my adventure be determined moment by momentI |

Along the journey I met many people, like the guy who had moved away from southern California and followed his dream: an internet café/surf shop in Coos Bay or the elderly couple I had breakfasted with--they liked my maps. I hiked along a path of redwoods where signs were posted warning of mountain lions. The best way to prevent an attack, they said, was to make noise. So I sang. I sang out loud. There was the beautiful Lithuanian woman at the hotel in Astoria who made me feel lonely. There were buffalo, llamas, sea lions, dead raccoons and a zebra. |

And there was my camera, my traveling companion. There is something so satisfying in capturing an image that evokes a sense of place, time and mood. |
