SILENT AUCTION OF AMBASSADOR PRINTS
Added September 6, 2008 by P Orth
LMGA to Host Silent Auction of LAST LOOKS Prints
The LMGA will be hosting a silent auction October 5th of the original prints from our photography exhibit, "LAST LOOKS: The Ambassador Hotel" in conjunction with our Biannual Meeting and reception. The film-friendly Wilshire Grand Hotel has graciously offered to host the function. Half of the proceeds from the sale will go to the benefit of Animo Film and Theater Arts High School, a Green Dot Public School.
The Ambassador has always held a special place in Hollywood's heart. It has served as the backdrop for many film and television productions including THE GRADUATE, HOFFA, THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS, FORREST GUMP, PRETTY WOMAN and L.A. STORY.
"LAST LOOKS: The Ambassador Hotel" is an intimate portrait of the treasured Los Angeles icon just months before its demolition.
Project Directors Kristi Frankenheimer, Lisa Blok-Linson and Diane Friedman developed the project to capture a parting vision of the hotel and provide an opportunity to mentor students in the art and craft of location scouting. Professional Location Managers worked alongside students from Jefferson High School Academy of Film and Theatre Arts to create a lasting testament to the final days of the Ambassador Hotel.
Part of the project included a gala ceremony in June of 2005 held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel honoring all of the students for their work. The event included a photography show of the student's work with a jury of industry professionals who awarded prizes in several categories. Winners were presented digital cameras by sponsor Fuji Film.

Directed by Lisa Blok-Linson with Beth Tate, the documentary was edited at The American Film Institute.
The final phase of the project was a formal photography exhibit at City Hall East in 2005 curated by Beth Tate. (These original prints will be auctioned with half of the proceeds going to the Animo Film and Theater Arts High School.)
