LMGA members busily forged new friendships, solidified strategic relationships and spread the good word about the LMGA to Location Professionals, Producers and Film Office Representatives from around the world during 2008’s AFCI (Association of Film Commissioner’s International) Location Trade Show in Santa Monica.

California Film Commission
Director, Amy Lemisch, Oakland Film Commissioner, Janet Austin, LMGA Board Member Bill Bowling, AFCI CEO, Bill Lindstrom and AFCI Executive Trade Show Producer, Maggie Christie helped facilitate our presence at this year's “Sold Out” event by arranging for the LMGA to share a booth with the Oakland Film Office.

Smack-dab in the middle of “California”, the shared LMGA/Oakland Film Commission booth was located in the highly trafficked main exhibit hall and quickly became a hub of activity where visitors could learn everything there is to know about the LMGA: from our mission and how to become a member to the projects we originate to promote our profession, such as the recent "Concentric Circles: Metro L.A. Revealed" photographic exhibit and book.

Special thanks are due to our in indefatigable booth volunteers Karen Gilbert, Beth Tate, Carole Segal, Dave Berthiuame, Steven Hopper, Kent Matsuoka, J.P. O'Connor, Stevie Nelson, Nancy Haecker, Richard McMillan, and Kris Bunting who tirelessly manned the booth and kept up the “meet and greets” over the three days of the show from April 10th through April 12th.

Matsuoka and O'Connor were particularly strong ambassadors for the LMGA.  Over the course of the three day show, they brought a number of individuals over to meet the team, including Mick Ratman, the Chairman of LMGA’s British counterpart: The Guild of Location Managers.  Their actions facilitated a dialogue with the Brits and laid the foundation for a solid relationship between our two organizations.

Big thanks to everyone for such a great show – and we look forward to 2009!
