MANOR HOTEL MIXER
Added January 1, 2008 by P Orth
In September, the LMGA held its first Affiliated Organization Mixer by inviting the Set Decorators Society of
America to tour the historic and film-friendly Manor Hotel in Hollywood.
The Manor’s Koury Lonon and staff gave guided tours and author Harry Medved (“HollywoodEscapes”) outlined the historical significance of the estate. Formerly the Chateau Elysee, the Manor Hotel was built in 1929 by Eleanor Ince, widow of silent film producer Thomas H. Ince. This grand replica of a 17th Century Normandy-French castle is the most impressive of all the Hollywood chateaux built during the roaring 1920’s.
The Location Department and Art Department have a long tradition of working closely together. This “affiliated organization” mixer will be the first of many mixers with our various “sister” Guilds with whom we share a collaborative relationship.
