LOCATIONS TRADE SHOW 2007
It was location mania as thousands of filmmakers, vendors, and production and studio executives descended on the Santa Monica Convention Center for the 2007 Locations Trade Show put on by the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI). This annual event focuses on productions shot on location, but following the trend of the last decade, it has become more about tax credits, rebates and other forms of filming incentives.
As in years prior, the LMGA had a lobby booth and programmed a topical seminar. This year's seminar, moderated by LMGA Board member and Warner Bros. worldwide locations exec, Bill Bowling, spoke to the relationship between film commissions and production service companies in regions around the world, including Asia, Africa and South America.
The LMGA booth was manned and womanned over the three days of the show by LMGA members Beth Tate, Kathy McCurdy, Kent Matsuoka, JP O'Connor, Kristi Frankenheimer, John Grant, Peter Gluck and others. Thanks to all our members and friends of the guild who stopped by to say hi!
