Fam Tour Fresno

Fresno Fam Tours
Fresno City Hall

What was to be 10 location professionals ended up to be an intimate crowd of 4 Location Managers Familiarization Tour of Fresno and Madera Counties in June of 2008. Fresno Film Commissioner and LMGA Business Member Ray Arthur coordinated the three-day event along with Dave Wolin, from Madera County.

The participants were John Grant, Mikhael Griffin, Carrie LA, and Richard Klotz.

We started in Fresno, seeing Chandler Field, a regional airport, Chukchansi Stadium, a SF Giants farm team AAA Ballpark, and the recently closed UMC Medical Center. Saturday, Dave Wolin took us into the high country outside Yosemite. We had left temperatures in the 90's in Fresno, to find snow on the ground up there. After an overnight at a rustic 100 year old inn outside of Oakhurst, we returned to Fresno to see several historic Theatres (the Tower and Warnor’s), and the City Hall complex.

Ray Arthur and his office choreographed the whole weekend. We were met with gracious hospitality all around, from accommodations, to food and fabulous people. The FAM tour was all around a good time for all who participated.

Del Monte Plant

In June 2009 Ray Arthur and Dave Wolin once again put on their Fresno-Madera Fam Tour. This time the Location Manager participants were Peter Orth and Marie-Paule Goislard. The itinerary was similar, but included a few variations of note: the disused Del Monte Packing plant near downtown Fresno, and the historic Fresno Hotel, recently gutted and slated for renovation. In Fresno we stayed at the newly redone Holiday Inn. In Madera County we stayed at Pines Resort on Bass Lake, a facility large enough for the biggest crews. Ray and Dave are both a joy to travel with, and their corner of California is full of underused and beautiful locations.
