The 2008-09 LMGA officers are:
President – Dave Berthiaume
1st VP – Lori Balton
2nd VP – Stevie Nelson
Secretary – Kim Crabb
Treasurer – Carole Segal
Balton and Berthiaume segue up a slot, while Segal returns in her position for another term. Crabb is new to the board, and Nelson was on the prior board but has not previously held office.
“Prior boards worked diligently for four years to build the LMGA into a solid, stable organization of location professionals and supporters,” said Kayla Thames-Berge, president for three of the four, exiting this term. “I am confident we have accomplished for the guild what good location professionals do, which is to leave the scene better than we found it and set the next crew up for success.” Among the changes this year is a 15-person board, set by the members, to allow for quicker consensus.
The mission of the LMGA is to promote public appreciation of the profession, which it accomplishes through educational programs, community outreach, and showcasing members’ work and talents. The Guild also produces collaborative photography projects, including LAST LOOKS: THE AMBASSADOR HOTEL and most recently, CONCENTRIC CIRCLES: METRO L.A. REVEALED. With members across the U.S., the Guild has begun to expand internationally, and plans to mount its first national project in 2009.
